CLINTON COUNTY — Members of the Clinton County Board were advised Monday night that due to the coronavirus epidemic, their hospitals are full, and the hospital workforce is at its breaking point.

Dr. Brian Klostermann informed board members that local hospitals have no extra doctors or nurses available.

Also on Monday, the Clinton County Health Department reported five more COVID-related deaths since Friday, bringing their total number of deaths since the pandemic began to 49. They also reported 100 new lab-confirmed positive tests from Friday to Monday, bringing the total number of residents who have tested positive to 2,568, with 561 currently in isolation and of those 11 are hospitalized.

The Jefferson County Health Department on Monday reported two new virus-related deaths over the weekend, bringing their total number of deaths to 46.

They also reported 57 new lab-confirmed cases of the virus over the weekend and another 38 on Tuesday, bringing that total number to 1,568, with 208 people currently in isolation and another 1,314 released from isolation.

The Marion County Health Department on Monday reported 49 new cases over the weekend and Monday, bringing their total number of confirmed infections to 1,480, with 237 in isolation at home, 18 others hospitalized, 1,190 released from isolation, and 35 who have died.

Fayette County health officials on Monday reported 30 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 51 probable cases over the weekend, and another 14 cases on Tuesday, bringing their total number of cases to 1,187, with 356 people currently in isolation and 29 who have died.

Washington County reported 31 new cases on Saturday and Sunday, bringing their total number of confirmed infections to 509 with, 96 people currently in isolation, one person is nhospitalized and two have died.
