Jessie Rose Umbaugh, 98, of St. Charles, Illinois, passed away on April 15, 2023, at Bickford of St. Charles, surrounded by her loving family.

          She was born September 27, 1924, in Texico, Illinois, to William and Amy (Daniels) Sager.  She married her husband of 58 years, James Umbaugh in Springfield, Ohio, on June 2, 1946.

          Jessie had a strong and courageous personality with a passion for justice to improve our world.

          She is preceded in death by her husband James Umbaugh, her son William Frederick Umbaugh, her son-in-law Jerry Heinrichs and her granddaughter-in-law Samantha McGovern.

          She is survived by her children; Lynn Heinrichs of Palatine, IL, Margaret (Andrew) Heineman of Iowa City, IA, Laurel Ann (Glenn) Peterson of St. Charles, IL, and Edward J. (Barbara) Umbaugh of Texico, IL; seven grandchildren, Katie, Amy, and Peter (Erin) Heinrichs, Matthew (Alysse Wurcel) Bevers, and Justin McGovern, Sam (Jessica) and Allison Peterson; nine great-grandchildren; and a nephew Dennis (Karen) Jensen of Huntington Beach, CA.

          Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Moss-Norris Funeral Home, 100 South Third Street St. Charles, IL

          A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April          21, 2023, at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, with Wayne Tate officiating.  Visitation will be Friday, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral service, at Osborn Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Donoho Prairie Cemetery, in Texico.  Memorial contributions may be directed to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Department of Neurology, Stroke Research Fund, at https://www.brighamandwomens.org/neurology/support-our-work.  Online condolences may be made at www.osbornfuneral.com, or on the Osborn Funeral Home Facebook page.
