Douglas Evan Riley, 71, of Dix, passed away at 3:25 a.m., on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Anderson Hospital, in Maryville, Illinois.

            He was born September 17, 1951, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, to Jack D. and Lois (Copple) Riley.  He married Mary Hill on July 14, 1978, in West Frankfort.

            Mr. Riley is survived by his daughter, Spring Bonney and husband Darrin of Glen Carbon; daughter-in-law, Leslie Riley of Cisne;  brother, Gregory Riley and significant other Cynthia Galanti of Belleville; sister, Jacquelyn (Riley) Vizcarra and her husband Leonzo, currently residing in Luxembourg;  and his grandchildren, Talan, Kendall and Keelie Bonney, Deegan and Mia Jo Riley, and Logan Brown.  Justin Riley, son of a former marriage to Jacqueline (Risley) Sharp.

            He was preceded in death by his son, Deputy Sean Riley; Mary (Hill) Riley; and his parents.

            Doug loved his family, friends, and community.  He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed socializing with friends.  He earned his Associates Degree, and traveled for various management positions.  He later obtained his electrician certification and owned a contracting business.

            Funeral services for Mr. Riley will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday,          April 20, 2023, at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix.  Burial will follow at Boyd Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service, at the funeral home.  Memorial donations may be made to the Sean Riley Benefit Fund, and will be accepted at the service, or by mail to Osborn Funeral Home, P.O.
