Dr. Pritam Singh Sahni, 85, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 1:41 am April 17, 2023 at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. He was born March 1, 1938 in Chauntra, India to the late Gurmukh Singh Sahni and Raj (Kushalyia) Sahni. Pritam married Sheila Sahni on June 16, 1969 in Birmingham, Alabama.

In addition to his beloved wife of nearly fifty-four years, Pritam is survived by his daughter, Anita Sahni and husband, Miguel Zepeda; son, Paul Sahni and wife, Brooke of Mahomet, Illinois; grandchildren, Michael, Gracie, Hudson, Annabella, Drew, and Haley; brother, Ranbir; sisters, Veena, Minni, Jiti; and uncle, Kohli.

In addition to his parents, Pritam was preceded in death by his sister, Sinni.

Dr. Sahni was a neurosurgeon and medicine was his life. He loved studying and never stopped learning. Pritam’s heroes were Einstein and Tesla. He brought the MRI scan to Mount Vernon, Illinois. Dr. Sahni would sleep near his patients after surgery to make sure they were doing okay and observe them. Always patients first.

A Private Service will be held. Memorials may be made in Pritam’s honor to Trinity Episcopal Church.
