Area dispatchers and firefighters were kept busy Monday while a Red Flag Warning was in effect for most of our listening area.

Fire departments that support each other through mutual aid had to pass on assisting others as every county in the MABAS area was dealing with their own calls. Most of the calls going out Monday were for grass fires; however, large calls were taken around the same time in both Marion and Jefferson County.

In Jefferson County, firefighters were called out for multiple structures on fire on Tole Lane and Centralia firefighters were called to Bicknell with multiple structures involved.

In Washington County, multiple agencies responded Monday afternoon to a field fire just off Route 127 in Nashville.

According to the National Weather Service, critical fire danger is expected across much of the area as warm, dry, and windy conditions create the potential for rapid fire spread.

As fire calls kept coming in, Washington County responded by issuing a burn ban until further notice and Jefferson County urged people to not do any type of burning as a wind advisory had been issued for the area.
