MARION CO0UNTY — Bail has been set at $750,000 for a 25-year-old registered sexual predator charged in Marion County court Friday of taking pictures or video of a child and possessing child pornography.

Seth Karrer, of Belleville, was arrested Wednesday after Centralia police received reports of a vehicle matching the description of Karrer’s parked near a high school bus stop and on school grounds, and for having internet communications with a child under the age of 18.
He was formally charged Friday with Class 2 felony being a sex offender taking or having someone take photos or videos of a child and two Class 3 felony charges of possessing child pornography.
An investigation into Karrer is ongoing and Centralia police expect he will be facing additional charges.
Karrer was convicted in 2013 in St. Clair County on two counts aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim between the ages of 13 and 16 – he was 21 at the time of the offense. The conviction placed him on the sex offender registry as a sexual predator.
If able to post $75,000 cash bond, Karrer is prohibited from having contact with a specific minor or anyone under the age of 18.
He is next scheduled to appear in court March 14 for a first appearance with his court-appointed attorney.
