CENTRALIA — The Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees met Monday for the regular monthly meeting and the trustees approved hiring Lyle Gross as a full-time, temporary assistant professor of Industrial Technology as the College works to re-tool the program to meet the needs of area manufacturers.
The College has been meeting with area companies to learn of their technical needs, and how the college can best meet those needs.
Gross’ duties in the coming months will be to develop a new curriculum in manufacturing, as well as continue to build relationships with the area manufacturers to ensure their specific needs are being addressed in existing and future programming.
Gross, who currently serves as an adjunct instructor with the college, will also be teaching program courses during this period.
The Board also approved the hiring of Alexis Myers as the replacement Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education.
Myers has been serving as the interim Early Childhood Education Program Coordinator with the College since August, 2016.
The Board also accepted the retirement of Director of Distance Learning Steve Jerden, and hired Christina Cody of Swansea as the replacement Marketing Specialist with the College’s Marketing/Public Information office.
It was announced that the Kaskaskia College Music Department will host its Winter Instrumental Concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Jane Knight Auditorium.
The concert will feature Kaskaskia College Concert and Jazz Bands under the direction of Professor Cliff Jourdan, with special guest, The Mardi Gras Brass. Admission is free.
