MARION COUNTY — Authorities have arrested the 35-year-old man who was the subject of a manhunt in the area after he allegedly broke into an occupied home Sunday near Cartter.

Jason White is now being held in the Marion County Jail after eluding law enforcement since Sunday afternoon. White was considered armed and dangerous after entering a home on Adams Road Sunday afternoon where he allegedly attempted to take guns and knives.
The homeowners, who were present at the time, reported that White was acting strangely but they were able to take the guns and knives away from him.
White then reportedly went outside with the male homeowner before fleeing the scene on foot.
Before White was apprehended the Marion County Sheriff’s Office had encouraged residents in the southern portion of the county to keep the doors to their homes and vehicles locked.
Shortly after the alleged burglary to the home on Adams Road, the suspect was seen at Biggie’s Cafe where he reportedly used the phone before again leaving on foot.
The sheriff’s office says White is a convicted sex offender and in addition to the charges he’ll be facing in connection with Sunday’s burglary, he also had outstanding warrants for his arrest — for driving under the influence, aggravated assault, and being a felon in possession of a weapon.
We’ll bring you more details about White’s apprehension as they’re made available.
