CENTRALIA — The City of Centralia would like to remind all residents and mowing contractors that citations can and will be issued for those that blow grass clippings onto the city streets.

When the clippings are blown into the streets they get into the storm sewer system and clog the drains. It should be noted that the clippings also pose a driving hazard for motorcyclists.

One option for disposal is the city’s bagged leaf and limb collection. You can find a schedule map on the city’s website at cityofcentralia.org.

The City says burn weekends are another option. Those weekends will be the first and third weekends of May, June, July,  August and December.

Every weekend in September, and October, except the weekend of the Halloween Parade, and every weekend in November, are also burn weekends.

If you have any questions please contact Code Enforcement Officer Bobby Patton at 618-533-7669 or email: bpatton@cityofcentralia.org.
