JEFFERSON COUNTY — A 47-year-old Belleville man has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for the 2015 robbery of a Mt. Vernon bank.

Rodney D. Brock pleaded guilty in Jefferson County Court to Class 1 felony robbery of a financial institution.

Brock admitted that on Friday, June 12, 2015, he used threats of force and/or intimidation to acquire cash belonging to Old National Bank. The Old National branch has since been acquired by First Mid-Illinois Bank & Trust.

Brock’s 11 year sentence in the Illinois Department of Corrections is shy of the maximum 15 year penalty.

Brock did not use a weapon in the crime, only using a note demanding money. He will likely only serve roughly half of the sentence with good behavior.
