FAYETTE COUNTY — Bail has been set at $750,000 for 48-year-old Vandalia man now facing an additional charge of attempted murder after an initial charge of aggravated domestic battery was amended.
Gregory M. Hill was arrested August 19 and charged with Class 2 felony aggravated domestic battery; however, a Class X felony charge of attempted murder was added to the case Wednesday.
According to charging information, Hill knowingly threw the victim to the floor and caused a spinal injury with the intent of killing her.
If convicted Hill could be sentenced to between 6 and 30 years on the Class X charge, or between 3 and 7 years on the Class 2 charge.
Hill remains in the Fayette County Jail, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for September 18 with his court appointed attorney.
