CENTRALIA — For those who enjoy unraveling a mystery, a local man is offering up opportunities to crack the secret locations of hidden treasure in Marion County through his Facebook page Ghost in a Graveyard.

Rick McDonald’s first treasure hunt was solved within a few days of going public. The pirate map led hunters through a chain of clues to the ultimate reward – a hidden chest filled with treasure.

McDonald’s second offering, however, has proven more difficult to solve. But as the search for the key that will unlock the chest continues, McDonald and others continue to fill the chest with treasure.

McDonald’s map teases treasure hunters with a map titled, “Where the Bell’s Toll. “ Marion County is the place to be, it says, to claim the chest you must find a key. It’s a cache that will bring you joy, but this invention, is not a toy.

The beginning and ending you can see, look to the water, your direction will be. Forty steps is all it takes. Beyond the end, the treasure awaits.

Take your kids, but beware; many dangers lurk out there. Stay on the trail and you will find what IllinoisGhost has left behind.
