FAYETTE COUNTY — A 21-year-old Bloomington man is in the Fayette County Jail after being arrested following a brief vehicle pursuit Saturday morning in Vandalia.

Brandon E. O’Brien was arrested for alleged motor vehicle theft, attempting to flee and elude police, and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.

According to Vandalia police, around 2:37 a.m. Saturday, they took a report of a stolen vehicle.

Then around 9:42 a.m., a Vandalia officer spotted the reportedly stolen vehicle and following what was reported as a short pursuit the driver parked the vehicle in the Subway parking lot and two Fayette County Sheriff’s deputies took the subject, later identified as O’Brien, into custody.
