SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — School kids across Illinois will no longer miss lunch because they can’t pay.

Governor Bruce Rauner signed a new law over the weekend that requires schools to give kids a free lunch on days when they don’t have money to buy the regular lunch.

The law does allow schools to try and collect payment for school lunches, and if that fails, they can ask the state for an offset.
