Victor Serrano was formally charged Wednesday with two counts attempted murder, one for a woman he allegedly abducted and one for her unborn child. He was also charged with Class X felony aggravated kidnapping.
Serrano was arrested by Indiana authorities following a high speed chase with Indiana authorities. He had reportedly fled from Mt. Vernon, Illinois after he reportedly kidnapped a pregnant woman and caused her serious injuries.
The jail reportedly informed the court Wednesday that Serrano refused to leave his cell and attend a scheduled video advisement with court officials until he had an attorney present. The court then appointed a public defender to represent the defendant and the advisement was rescheduled for Thursday in open court.
