MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon police arrested a 17-year-old resident of Spero Family resident Monday morning for allegedly stabbing a 15-year-old fellow resident at the home.

Officers responded just before 8:30 a.m. Monday to Spero Family Services on a report of a battery.

Upon officer’s arrival they determined a 17-year-old resident had begun attacking and stabbing a 15-year-old resident. A third resident reportedly attempted to intervene and was also struck several times but not stabbed.

Officers took the 17-year-old into custody on two counts of Aggravated Battery. The 17-year-old was processed at the Mt Vernon Police Department and detained in the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Facility pending a court date in Jefferson County.

The 15-year-old victim was transported to a local hospital by private vehicle with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Department of Children and Family Services was also notified of the incident.
