CENTRALIA — Centralia police are investigating two gunfire incidents Wednesday that resulted in property damage.

According to Police Chief Greg Dodson, officers responded Wednesday to the area around Wright and Robnette drives in Centralia on a report of a domestic disturbance in which a female had been battered.

Dodson says that the alleged victim refused to cooperate with officers or to file a report of the incident.

Then around 4 p.m. police received a report of gunfire in that same area in what Dodson says was likely an attempt at revenge by family members of the alleged female victim.

Shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a second report of gunfire, this time in the 600 block of Rhodes in what appears to have been revenge for the first shooting incident.

There were no injuries involved in the gunfire but there was property damage from the numerous gunshots. However, according to Dodson, while the investigation is still ongoing, it does appear long guns were used.

Dodson emphasizes that while the two incidents were connected, they were in no way related to recent social unrest across the country or the peaceful protests held in Centralia.
