PATOKA — A 41-year-old Hoyleton man, originally from Patoka, was killed Wednesday afternoon when a tractor he was operating reportedly overturned and pinned him underneath.

According to Marion County Coroner Troy Cannon, Jason Quick was ascending a steep embankment just southeast of Patoka when his tractor overturned.

Quick was apparently cutting a field and the tractor was pulling a bush hog at the time of the accident.

Patoka Fire Protection District responded to extricate him from the wreckage. They had called for AirEvac to airlift Quick to a regional hospital. But his condition was unstable so he was instead transported to SSM St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.

Resuscitation efforts failed at the hospital and he was pronounced deceased in the Emergency Department by the attending ER physician.

Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville is assisting the family with arrangements.
