JEFFERSON COUNTY — A warrant sweep through Jefferson County Wednesday has so far resulted in the arrests of 10 people on drug-related charges.

Members of the Mt. Vernon Police Department / Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department began an effort of locating and arresting several individuals wanted on drug related warrants throughout Mt. Vernon and Jefferson County.

The warrants were issued by the Jefferson County State’s Attorney’s office and were signed by the Honorable Judge Jo Beth Weber, following approximately 6 months of on-going investigations by the MVPD/JCSO Narcotics Division.

A total of 23 individuals were being sought on drug related charges which include the following:

(11) Eleven persons wanted on meth related charges.
(2) Two persons wanted on cannabis related charges.
(1) One Person wanted on prescription drug related charges.
(3) Persons wanted on heroin related charges.
(4) Persons wanted on crack cocaine related charges.
(1) Person wanted on unlawful sale of stolen firearms charges.
(1) Person wanted on delivery of a look-a-like substance charges.

As of 1 p.m. Wednesday, ten of the wanted individuals have been located and arrested. One the individuals arrested, 34-year-old Donald Weston, was arrested by the West Frankfort Police Department and a second, 32-year-old Amanda York, was arrested by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.
