MARION COUNTY — A 19-year-old Carlyle man was sentenced Thursday in Marion County Court to 7 years in prison for a 2014 armed robbery of the Casey’s General Store in Sandoval.

Ethan Robert Miller, who is already serving a 10-year prison sentence for a 2015 armed robbery in Keyesport, pleaded guilty to a Class X felony charge of armed robbery with a firearm, for the 2014 Christmas Eve armed robbery of the Sandoval store.
The sentence is to be served concurrently with the 10-year prison sentence he has been serving since June 2015 for Class 1 felony charge of attempted armed robbery with discharge of a firearm resulting in bodily harm, as well as Class 3 felony aggravated battery of a victim more than 60-years-old.
Miller was sentenced to 10-years in prison on the armed robbery charge and 4-years in prison for the aggravated battery, as well as ordered to pay Paul Koehler – the tavern owner – more than $65,000 in restitution.
Miller will be eligible for parole in January 2020. He is currently being housed in the minimum security correctional facility in Taylorville.
