JEFFERSON COUNTY — A 27-year-old man is in the Jefferson County Jail, arrested on drug and firearms charges after sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of suspected elderly abuse at a home in Bonnie.

Christian Carter, along with 45-year-old Traci Graham, were taken into custody and transported to the jail, where they face charges of cannabis production and delivery.

The two were arrested after officers with the Mt.Vernon/Jefferson County Narcotics Division responded to a Bonnie home on a report of elder abuse.

After Jefferson County detectives were at the home late Monday night, they reportedly discovered a cannabis grow operation.

Once inside the residence cannabis plants and a firearm were reportedly discovered, with detectives locating a grow operation, drug equipment, and an “assault type” rifle.

Carter also faces a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Carter remains in jail, but Graham was released after posting $5,000 cash bond.

The investigations into the case and the reported elder abuse continue.
