JEFFERSON COUNTY — A 44-year-old man is in the Jefferson County Jail after a late night arrest at the Interstate 64 rest area where sheriff’s deputies were performing a contraband check.

According to Sheriff Travis Allen, K-9 Deputy Tico alerted on a vehicle and its driver Gary Farless.

Allen says Farless had methamphetamine-related warrants that were out of geographical limits, but a search of the vehicle allegedly revealed narcotics and hypodermic syringes.

Farless was taken into custody and transported to the Jefferson County Jail. He was formally charged Monday in Jefferson County Court with felony possession of a controlled substance.
