Stephen Johnston was arrested by Salem police, after he allegedly failed to register annually as a sexual predator.

Johnston was convicted in 2012 in Marion County Court of failing to report as a sexually violent or dangerous offender for a second of subsequent time, and was convicted in 2008 for his first sex offender registry violation.

He is bound by the Sex Offender Registry Act after he was convicted in 2001 in Marion County of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim between the ages of 13 and 16. However, according to the registry, the victim was 11-years-old at the time of the abuse and Johnston was 29.

Bail for Johnston has been set at $50,000. He is next scheduled in court May 25, on the new charge.
