FRANKLIN COUNTY — A 70-year-old Bloomfield, Missouri woman died Saturday due to injuries she received in a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 57 in Franklin County.

Illinois State Police say around 7:35 a.m., Patricia Huston was driving her car north near the Benton exit when she attempted to pass another vehicle going north.

Huston drifted onto the left shoulder and lost control of her car. The car crossed the median and both southbound lanes. It left the roadway and overturned several times.

Huston suffered major injuries and was taken by ambulance to Franklin Hospital in Benton. She was then airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, where she passed away according to the Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office.

Police charged Huston for improper lane usage. She was wearing a seatbelt.
