WASHINGTON COUNTY — The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that weather permitting, U.S. 51 at Illinois 15 in Ashley, in Washington County, will be closed starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2016, and will continue for three days through Thursday, May 18.

The road closure is necessary to allow the Illinois Central Railroad Company to rehabilitate their crossing.

A marked detour will be in place to safely guide motorists around the closure. IDOT asks motorists to be patient and use extra caution near and throughout the work area.
