TILTON (AP) — A 15-year-old boy has become the third train related fatality in Illinois this week, after he was struck and killed Tuesday by a train in eastern Illinois.

The (Champaign) News-Gazette reports that the Vermilion County Coroner’s Office has identified the boy as Shawn Morris of Tilton.

Tilton Police Chief Steve Cornett says three boys were on the north side of the Norfolk and Southern railway tracks when one of them tried to cross on Tuesday afternoon. The police chief says Morris’ foot got caught on the rail and when he got back up he was hit by the train.

On Sunday two Illinois men were killed by trains in separate incidents. An 80-year-old Alton man was killed Sunday morning when he reportedly crossed tracks with his pickup truck near Alton and struck and killed by a passenger train.
Later Sunday a 71-year-old man was struck and killed by a freight train as he was standing on the tracks in Vandalia.
