JEFFERSON COUNTY — A hit and run Monday in Jefferson County has landed the suspect in the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the incident.

According to Sheriff Travis Allen, around 12:40 yesterday afternoon, deputies responded to the area of Riddle Lane and Illinois Highway 15 on a report of a Budget Rental truck hitting an Ameren truck, with the driver of the rental vehicle fleeing the scene on foot.

Sheriff Allen, deputies and an ISP Officer located the subject, Scott Douglas, in a corn field just South of the wreck location.
Douglas was taken into custody for Aggravated DUI, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Driving while License Suspended, Possession of Cannabis and No Insurance.

Douglas was also issued citations from a District 11 Illinois State Police trooper for an accident that happened earlier that day. Douglas was taken to the hospital for his injuries
