JEFFERSON COUNTY — A 34-year-old man is in the Jefferson County Jail, after the Mt. Vernon Police Department/Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department High Risk Team executed a search warrant early Wednesday morning at a home on Casey Street in Mt. Vernon.

Carlos Lewis was arrested after the Team reportedly recovered crack cocaine, heroin, cannabis, digital scales, packaging materials, and United States currency in their search of the home.

The search warrant was obtained with the assistance of the Jefferson County State’s Attorney’s Office and was signed by the Honorable Judge Jo Beth Weber after investigations by the MVPD/JCSO Narcotics Division developed information that crack cocaine and heroin were being sold at the residence.

Lewis was arrested on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, Possession of Cannabis, and Possession of Drug Equipment. He remains in jail awaiting the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail.
