FAYETTE COUNTY — A Fayette County Court has found a bona fide doubt as to the mental fitness of a 23-year-old Vandalia woman to stand trial in a case alleging she caused permanent disability to her infant son when she threw him to the floor.

Aubree L. Hammer is charged with Class X felony aggravated battery to a child under the age of 13 causing great bodily harm of permanent disability.
Court records say Hammer knowingly caused great bodily harm and permanent disability to a child under the age of 13, in that she held the infant head high and threw him to
a wooden floor causing the baby brain damage.
Defense counsel had earlier filed a motion for a fitness evaluation on Hammer and on Thursday Judge Don Sheafor ordered a fitness exam to be conducted by Dr. Daniel Cuneo.
A status hearing on the exam is scheduled for May 5. Hammer remains in the Fayette County Jail with bail set at $1 million.
