MURPHYSBORO — State Fire officials are investigating  suspicious early-morning fire at the State of Illinois’ Department of Human Services building in Murphysboro.

Firefighters responded around 3:50 a.m. Wednesday to the scene of the fire on North Street.

In addition to housing the DHS office, the building also houses legislative offices for Republican State Rep. Terri Bryant, of Murphysboro, and Republican State Sen. Dave Luechtefeld, of Okoawville.

No injuries were reported and it isn’t believed the legislative offices were damaged. DHS is working to set up a mobile office nearby to assist clients in person.

The building also houses the Jackson County Western Egyptian E.O.C. office. The agency helps families get energy assistance.

The Illinois State Fire Marshall is investigating.
