Donald Fairchild was charged with three counts felony burglary in connection to a string of vehicle break-ins around Salem in November.

In exchange for his guilty plea, the two other counts were dismissed.

He was also sentenced to 55-days in jail with credit for 55-days served, and ordered to pay court costs and restitution, and complete drug and alcohol treatment.

Fairchild was arrested after a witness described a vehicle that resulted in Salem police officers going to Fairchild’s home where they found a vehicle matching the witness’ description with the engine still warm.

Officers could reportedly see an insurance card of one victim on the seat of Fairchild’s vehicle and after receiving permission from Fairchild’s mother to search the vehicle other stolen items were found.

Fairchild is scheduled for a hearing in March on the amount of restitution he must pay his victims.
