CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Police Department says funeral services for the officer who was fatally shot last weekend will be held next week.

In a statement, the department says a wake will be held for Officer Ella French on Wednesday at St. Rita of Cascia Shrine Chapel on the city’s South Side between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. and the funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the same church.

Prosecutors say French was helping conduct a traffic stop on Aug. 7 when Monty Morgan killed her and seriously injured her partner. Morgan and his brother, Eric Morgan, were arrested a short time later.
