CHICAGO (AP) — A Chicago woman says her dog ran away in 2020 and was adopted by a new owner, despite having his name and her phone number on his collar.

Karly Moran-West filed a lawsuit against Chicago Animal Care and Control. She says Zeus, a golden retriever, ended up at the dog pound and was transferred to Fetching Tails Foundation before he was placed in a new home.

Animal Care and Control declined to comment. The lawsuit says Zeus was wearing the collar with Moran-West’s phone number when he was processed. Moran-West hopes the new owner decides to return Zeus. She says, “Have a heart and give me back my dog.”
