MOUNT VERNON — A 26-year-old Mt. Vernon man is in the Jefferson County Jail following his arrest Thursday after he allegedly displayed a handgun at a Mt. Vernon fast food restaurant.

Tylone R. Kidd was arrested around 4:30 p.m. Thursday by Mt. Vernon police who were responding to Burger King on South 10th at Veterans Memorial Drive on a report of a male displaying a handgun.

 

Upon their arrival, officers made contact with Kidd who allegedly had a handgun and ammunition inside his vehicle.

Kidd was taken into custody on charges of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon on Parole, and being an Armed Habitual Offender.

Kidd was on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections at the time of his arrest and since his arrest violated the terms of his parole his parole a hold placed on him pending his return to IDOC.

He was paroled last month having been convicted in 2013 in Alexander County on a Class 1 felony cannabis possession charge, and in Jefferson County on a Class 1 felony burglary charge.
