RICHLAND COUNTY — The fitness trial for 54-year-old Olney man charged with the rape and murder of an 8-year-old girl will be held in Effingham County after both prosecution and defense agreed Thursday to the change of venue.

In December the court found a bona fide doubt as to the mental fitness of Glenn D. Ramey.
Ramey is being held in the Richland County jail with bail set at $10 million on charges of first-degree murder and predatory criminal sexual assault in connection with the death of Sabrina Stauffenberg on Thanksgiving 2016.
Another hearing is scheduled to take place today to determine whether the trial will be able to be held on its tentative date, September 11th.
The fitness trial will determine whether Ramey is mentally competent to stand trial on the rape and murder charges.
