Southern Illinois man sentenced to 65 years for wife’s shooting death

FRANKLIN COUNTY — A 66-year-old West Frankfort man has been sentenced to 65 years in prison for the murder of his wife.

John Adams was sentenced Friday in Franklin County Court for the shooting death of Kendra Turner Adams.

Police responded to the couple’s home March 31, 2014. Investigators said 52-year-old Turner Adams had been shot in the back of the head. She died the next day at an Evansville hospital.

Adams pleaded guilty in March to two counts of murder during his jury trial. Sentencing was scheduled for last month, but the hearing was delayed when an impact statement was not received in time.
