SALEM — Two women were arrested over the weekend on felony drug charges, after Salem police responded to a complaint of drug activity in a room at the comfort Inn and Suites.

According to police reports, 23-year-old Kelsy Hess, of Salem, and 26-year-old Kellie Schoreck, of Alma, were arrested after officers approached to two as they were vacating their room at management’s request.

Officers reportedly requested to search a purse after allegedly noticing a hotel towel inside. They allegedly found drug pipes and tubing in the search.

After questioning the two women, officers discovered another bag that reportedly held syringes, three bags of white powder that tested positive for cocaine, 22 round white pills, two digital scales and nearly $3,000 in cash.

Hess and Schoreck were both charged this morning in Marion County Court with two counts each Class 4 felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bail for Hess was set at $50,000 and bail for Schoreck was set at $75,000. Both women were appointed public defenders.
